At Sale Dental, our primary focus is to protect our patients from needing restorative treatments like dental fillings.

However, sometimes, a filling is necessary to repair a tooth and restore its full function.

A composite filling is used to fill a gap or cavity in a tooth caused by decay, injury, or wear and tear. Our dental fillings at Sale Dental are made from a durable, tooth-coloured composite resin that provides a natural-looking finish and is easy to shape.

What are fillings made of?

Traditionally, fillings were made from precious metals like gold or metal amalgam. At Sale Dental, we use white, tooth-coloured fillings by default. These fillings are made from a durable composite resin that provides a natural-looking finish and is easy to shape.

How will I know if I need a filling?

Regular dental check-ups at Sale Dental can reveal the need for a filling before you notice any problems. Symptoms indicating the need for a filling include increased tooth sensitivity, pain, or difficulty when chewing or biting down.

If you experience any of these symptoms, contact our dental clinic immediately to diagnose and address the issue before the cavity worsens.

What is the filling treatment like?

Getting a filling is a routine procedure involving local anaesthetic to ensure you feel no discomfort. Once numbed, we remove the decayed or infected part of the tooth and thoroughly clean the area. A gel is applied to the tooth as an adhesive for the composite filling material, which is then carefully shaped and cured with a specific light to harden it in place.

What do I need to do after I have a filling?

Avoid eating on the treated tooth for 24-48 hours to allow it to calm down, as the procedure is akin to a minor operation on the tooth. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing regularly, and attending regular dental check-ups to keep your oral health in optimal condition.

In May I decided to take action on my oral health and came here to have a consultation to see just what work I needed, knowing I’d need a fair amount so I scheduled an appointment online and was booked in with Hamza.From the beginning he’s been really helpful, kind and professional - knowing I was extremely nervous at the start he worked out a dental plan for me and talked me through it making sure I understood the issues and impact if I was to decide not to fix soon. I never felt pressured he always was clear about how I could schedule the treatment whenever I’m ready so always felt comfortable and armed with the information needed to make decisions on my treatment.It’s 7 months later and I’ve had 3 sessions of work with 2 more to go, I can honestly say that Hamza is passionate about his work and I can tell he’s a perfectionist. He won’t ever rush the work and will clearly state the steps he’s taking when you’re in the chair and can’t talk, i feel like I’ve learnt so much about my teeth - I’m never left wondering about any of it or what the next session will entail which I love. He stops if I make any signal that I’m in discomfort and is keen to make sure I’m ok throughout.I’ve always dreaded the dentist but now I really don’t, Hamza and his assistant Zara are always so pleasant, calming and caring and as weird as it sounds I’m always so relaxed in that dentist chair which are words I never thought I’d say!I do recommend this place, facilities are nice and clean.

You won’t get a better service than what the team at Sale dental spa provide, they are all fantastic. I have just finished my 16 month Invisalign treatment, finished with composite bonding and the transformation has given me my confidence back. I have recently completed my Invisalign treatment and had composite bonding on 8 of my teeth. I highly recommend Dr Aisha and everyone at Sale dental Spa.
