A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw, which acts as the root for a new crown or bridge. It does not rely on the teeth either side, it does not come out at night, and once healed it works and feels close to a natural tooth.
Implants suit a single missing tooth, several, or teeth that are failing and need a planned replacement. They need enough healthy bone and healthy gums to succeed, which is why the consultation and imaging come first, and why we are honest when an implant is not the right answer. Smoking and some medical conditions affect healing, and we will discuss that openly rather than gloss over it.

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. It then needs time to integrate with the bone, usually a few months, and we will talk through temporary options so you are not left with a gap.
Your crown or bridge is fitted, checked against your bite, and maintained like a natural tooth with check-ups and hygiene visits.
The single implant figure includes the abutment. No separate abutment charge, no quiet extras between placement and final tooth. Your written plan sets out each stage separately before anything starts.

With good hygiene and regular maintenance, many years. Like natural teeth, they depend on healthy gums, which is why the hygiene side matters as much as the surgery.
Most people are, but not everyone. Bone, gum health, smoking and some medical conditions all play a part. The consultation answers this properly rather than by guesswork.
