Composite bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin, shaped and polished by hand directly onto the tooth. In most cases nothing is drilled and nothing is injected. You walk in with the chip or the gap, and walk out without it.
It suits chipped edges, small gaps, worn or uneven front teeth, and teeth that look slightly short or out of step with their neighbours. It is the least invasive way to change how a smile looks, which is why it is usually the first thing we consider.
It is not the answer to everything. Heavily discoloured or extensively worn teeth sometimes need veneers, and crowding sometimes needs straightening first. If bonding is not the right call for you, we will say so at the consultation and explain what is.
Straight to treatment. Expert bonding, done well, usually in a single visit.
The complete design process: once you go ahead, your new smile is designed with Dr Hamza Mirza and printed as a Trial Smile you wear and approve before anything is permanent. Nothing is fitted until you have seen it and said yes, and whitening is included.
There is no case-size rule and no gatekeeping: both tiers are available on any bonding case, and the choice is yours. Think of it as good and better. Your written plan prices both so you can decide.
Everything you need to know before bonding: both bonding options side by side, what a Trial Smile is and why it matters, a real patient case from this practice, and the questions worth asking at any consultation, wherever you go. Reviewed by Dr Hamza Mirza, our Clinical Lead. Tell us where to send it and it is with you in minutes.
Every bonding case starts with a free Smile Design Consultation. We examine the teeth, take photographs and an iTero digital scan, talk through the shape and shade you want, and give you a written plan with both bonding options priced. You choose.
You get a written plan with an exact per-tooth price before anything starts. No surprises in the chair.
Usually a single visit. The tooth surface is prepared, the composite is layered, shaped and polished until it disappears into the tooth beside it.
We review the result, show you how to look after it, and book you in with our hygiene team to keep it looking the way it did on day one. If you want that maintenance built in, our Tier 3 membership plan includes a bonding maintenance visit each year. See membership plans.

Usually not. Most bonding needs no drilling and no injection. If a tooth needs more preparation, we will tell you before we start, not during.
Several years with sensible care. Composite can chip or pick up stain over time, but unlike some treatments it is straightforward to repair or refresh.
Composite can pick up stain from coffee, red wine and smoking faster than enamel does. Regular hygiene visits keep it bright, and it can be re-polished.
Usually, yes. Composite is matched to the shade of your teeth on the day, and it does not whiten afterwards. If you want a lighter smile, we whiten first and bond second. With Smile Design Bonding, whitening is already included.
Bonding is less invasive and less expensive; veneers last longer and handle discolouration and heavy wear better. The honest answer depends on your teeth, which is what the consultation is for.
