Professional whitening, prescribed and supervised by a dentist after a proper look at your teeth, so it is safe, gradual and worth the money. From £275.
Book a ConsultationWhitening lightens the natural shade of your teeth gradually over a few weeks, using professional whitening gel in trays made to fit your mouth. It starts with a dentist examining your teeth, because whitening healthy teeth is straightforward and whitening problems is not. That examination is also the law: in the UK, tooth whitening may only be carried out under a dentist's prescription, and anyone else offering it is acting illegally.
It suits teeth that have dulled or yellowed with time, tea, coffee and red wine. Two honest limits before you start. Whitening changes natural teeth only, so it will not lighten crowns, veneers or bonding, which is why we whiten first and match any new dentistry to the lighter shade afterwards. And results vary from person to person; your dentist will tell you honestly what your teeth are likely to do rather than promise a shade from a chart.
A dentist checks your teeth and gums are healthy and confirms whitening will work for you, then prescribes your treatment.
A digital scan on our iTero scanner, no impression moulds, and whitening trays are made to fit your teeth exactly.
You wear the trays with the prescribed gel as directed, and the shade lifts gradually over the following weeks.
We check the result together. Your trays are yours to keep, so topping up later needs only more gel, not a new start.
A two-week course is from £275. A four-week course is from £450. Which one your teeth need is confirmed at the examination, with your price in writing before anything starts.
Examination, custom trays and your prescribed whitening gel. Worth knowing before you pay for it separately: whitening is already included in Smile Design Bonding and in the porcelain veneers package, and our Tier 3 membership plan includes two whitening top-up tubes a year. All fees are on our Fees and Finance page.
Everything you need to know before whitening: how professional whitening works, what it can and cannot change, a real patient case from this practice, and the questions worth asking at any consultation, wherever you go. Not when it is prescribed and supervised by a dentist. Some people notice temporary sensitivity during treatment; it settles, and your dentist will adjust the routine if it bothers you.
It depends on your teeth and their starting shade. We will tell you honestly what to expect at the examination rather than promise a number of shades. The aim is teeth that look healthy and bright, not a colour that announces itself.
No. Whitening changes natural teeth only. If you are planning cosmetic work, whiten first; the new dentistry is then matched to the lighter shade. That order is built into our Smile Design Bonding and veneers packages.
Years rather than months for most people, depending on tea, coffee, wine and smoking. Because you keep your trays, a short top-up brings the shade back without starting again.
In the UK it is illegal for anyone other than a dental professional to carry out tooth whitening, and legal over-the-counter kits are limited to concentrations too low to do much. If a whitening offer does not start with a dentist looking in your mouth, walk away.
