Hello I’m Armand Beasley and I’ve recently had Invisalign® (near invisible) braces fitted by Dr Aisha Ahmed at Sale Dental Spa in Sale, Cheshire.
As you know I’ve been hovering around the public arena for over 20 years now…as an Actor, Beauty Expert on ITV’s This Morning, Celebrity Stylist, Presenter and columnist for Cheshire Life magazine. I’m also well known around the networking circuit as I love to attend the many fabulous events hosted by the wonderful ladies of Cheshire!
I was born in Rochdale but defected to Altrincham…via London! One of the highlights about my job is making people feel good as well as look good. I’ve never been a fan of invasive procedures as I love people’s individuality and I find that a lot of people are starting to look the same: same hair, same cheek and lip implants even the same veneers!
Growing up, I always had slightly crooked teeth (along with an odd choice of hair-do’s) but I have been told by friends that they were naturally white and strong too (by Dentists)!
But it was only as I got older and started seeing myself on TV that I noticed that my teeth were moving. Above are some pics over recent years where I’m smiling and trying to minimise the bottom set being exposed….however, my pal celebrity hair guru Andrew Barton always makes me laugh…so no chance of that then!
After seeing myself on film, the changes in my teeth started to make me a tad self-conscious in front of the camera and I would have pics taken a certain way so that they were not shown.
It was then that I started properly researching the options available for my teeth. I even went for a consultation at one Dental Practice who told me that I would have to have one tooth removed to make way for the realignment of my teeth. Now, I’m very proud of the fact that I’m in my 40s and do not have any fillings and all my teeth are strong and healthy – so for me that wasn’t an option.
Earlier this year I met Joanna Lambe at a charity event organised by Sue France of Creative Connecting in Cheshire (at the fabulous Menagerie in Manchester) and she invited me in to Sale Dental Spa to talk to Dr Aisha Ahmed to see how they could help me.
Once I came into the Dental Practice for my consultation, thankfully I was immediately reassured that I wouldn’t have ANY teeth removed and that I was a great candidate for Invisalign!
The team then took a quick iTero scan of my teeth and showed me on Screen (in amazing 3D virtual reality) how my teeth will be transformed! The iTero scan can also be emailed to you so that you can see step by step and at different angles how your teeth will move through to seeing the finished result! Dr Ahmed and her team made me feel so comfortable and it was when I popped in for an Invisalign® open day that I finally decided to go ahead with the treatment.
And so on Aug 6th 2019 I had my Invisalign fitted!!!
After having my aligners fitted (and buttons which are temporary anchors for the aligners to slot onto) with Dr Aisha, the Owner and Principal Dentist and Leah Cross, Assistant Dental Nurse and had my many questions answered, I left with a full Invisalign kit which includes 3 Invisalign aligners, a mouthwash, toothpaste, travel tooth brush, cleaning crystals, a handy box to keep my aligners safe while I eat, chewies (to aid flexibility of my teeth) and a full set of instructions.
I have to say initially getting my bottom set of aligners in and out is tricky and there is some initial discomfort as my bottom set were particularly overcrowded but I’m hoping that will ease over the next few days.
